Book Group at Holy Angels

The Holy Angels Book Group has been reading JD Salinger’s “The Catcher in theRye” and will meet on Thursday 16 August at 7.40pm to discuss & have a generally enjoyable social evening.  Anyone interested should contact either Christina on 01252 679551 or Cathy on 01252 686542 for more information.

HELP NEEDED!  Our Children’s Liturgy catechists are a team of only 4 people.   Of late we have found it difficult to schedule Children’s Liturgy every week and so some weeks it is not held.   However, we are blessed with new families with young children joining us at Holy Angels.   We would love to ensure that Children’s Liturgy is held regularly.   To do this, we desperately need more help.

If you would like to become a catechist, or a helper then please contact Rebecca Newey.  T: 01252 322847

Mother and Baby Group

Meet every Tuesday from 10.30am – 12.00pm in St. Mary’s room, Holy Angels.  A very warm welcome to one of our newest Mums, Lyndsey and her new bahby and young daughter. If you have a young baby and would like to take some time out for yourself, why not come and join our other Mothers and enjoy a chat over a cup of coffee or tea whilst your baby sleeps or plays with the other babies.  We have had some lovely toys donated for them to play with.

HOLY FAMILY

CHURCH CLEANING – PLEASE

We really need your help. Can you spare an hour every six weeks to help keep our church clean? We have lost quite a few of our team of longstanding volunteers recently for various reasons so we really need YOU. Maybe you could join up with a couple of friends to form a group. Obviously the more groups we have the less often our turn comes round. Please give serious consideration to this appeal.

If you can help or want more details please ring Mary Norton on 714990.    Thank You

Mother and Toddler Group

Our Mother and Toddler Group will be meeting up again in September in the Parish Hall.  The group meet up every Thursday morning from 9.30am until 11.30am.  If you have a young child why not join us and enjoy the company of other mums for a chat over a cup of coffee whilst your child enjoys the company of other children.  We have a variety of toys to keep the children occupied.  (more information in September)

REQUEST FOR PRAYERS

Please continue to pray for: Jean Wise, Jane Brown, Liam Kavanagh, Len Turner, Kirsten Hobbs, Barbara O’Brien and Gladys Maheady.

If you would like prayers to be offered for a friend or family member and for this to be mentioned in the weekly Newsletter, please contact Rita in the Parish Office.

Permission must be given by the person who is sick to have a prayer request mentioned

MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

My sincere apologies to Holy Family Parishioners as it has been pointed out to me that I inadvertently printed off the previous week’s Newsletter by mistake although for some reason printed off the correct copy for Holy Angels… That is what happens when you try and do too many jobs at once.  I was helping Father David prepare for the Soup Lunch which followed the Friday 12.00pm Mass and so was flitting between the kitchen and the Parish Office.

 (below a beautiful poem)

A POEM

Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while
I need a friend who’ll listen
To my anxiety and trial.

You see, I can’t quite make it
Through a day just on my own…
I need your love to guide me,
So I’ll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they’re bound.

Give me faith, dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can’t change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home
And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall..  !!!!!!!

Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.

So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
And I’ll call again tomorrow!

FATHER DAVID’S NEWS

New Toilet Block and Repairs to the Pathway at Holy Family – Because the path will need to be taken up to lay the drains for the new Toilet for the disabled, we need to replace the paving which is now in a poor state and a trip risk in some places.  Our two options are:

A:  To have new stone type flags (preferably concrete) laid.

B: To tarmac the path with “School Quality” tarmac.  There is a significant difference in price.  Concrete slabs would we are told by the Architect be 35% more expensive.

Please consider the options as there will be a vote in two weeks time.
