I have just read Martha Payne’s book “Never Seconds”: The Incredible Story of Martha Payne” published by Cargo Publishing, priced £9.99

It’s a great book and there is a page describing how the kids from Malawi felt when they opened their backpacks.

I thought it would be nice for our parishioners at our 2 churches to see this and, perhaps, the parents could read it to their children as a way of letting them know the effects of their kindness in doing our recent backpack appeal to Mary’s Meals. (Copy attached) (Susan Burton)

An abrieviated message from Karmelina Adams

When we celebrated St. Valentine’s day Karmelina Adams asked if we would join with many Christians in England in remembering those women from whom life has brought not joy but sadness.  It is estimated that one woman in three experiences bullying or violence.  In the U.K. which we consider a civilised and safe country to live init is claimed one woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in their lives.  One incident of domestic violence is reported every minute in the UK.  On Sunday, 3rd March our 9.15am Sunday Mass at HolyFamilyChurch will be for women who experience the sadness of brutality in their lives.  Please remember on that Sunday to include them in your prayers and also those who run and support Women’s Refuges for women in need.

If you would like further information or are able to offer help, please contact Karmelina Dams on 01252 726 888 email: karmelina@adamslinguist.com

Message from Father David

Stations – The response to Stations on the Cross on Sunday afternoon at 3pm at Holy Family was very encouraging.  The Stations each Friday, 7pm at Holy Angels and 3pm at Holy Family will be lead by either Father David or Deacon John and conclude with Benedictions of the Blessed Sacrament.

Hale Carnival – Saturday, 6th July, 2013

We have been invited to take part this year and it would be good if one or two people were able to represent the Church.  We could have a banner made and perhaps a few people in fancy dress as Angels, a priest or nun or members of our youth kitted out as a Pop Group.  “The Holy Family boy or girl band”.  If you have any ideas, please let Father David or Deacon John know.  A planning meeting will be held at St. Marks Church Room on Tuesday, 5th March at 7.30pm to receive any ideas or suggestions.  Further information from Gill Brown: 01252 516746.Email:  gill-brown@sky.com or hale-carnival@hotmail.co.uk
