Father David Message

Bishop’s Questionnaire on Family Life and the teaching of the Church

Pope Francis’s invitation for us all to contribute to the Bishop’s Synod in October next year has had a lot of publicity.  The general response seems to be that while people very much appreciate being consulted but most seem to have found the Questionnaire very complicated and feel that they need more than a couple of weeks to think about the issues and make a response.

May I suggest that if this is how you feel, you say so in your response and comment on the questions you are ready to answer and leave the rest.  A limited response is better than no response.  The questionnaire is available on line: www.catholic-ew.org.uk (and go to the Section, “Questionnaire/Synod of Bishops”.

The deadline for the Questionnaire is Saturday, 30th November 2013.  If you don’t have a computer but are keen to respond let Rita in the Parish Office know and we will direct you to someone who can help.

DON’T FORGET SYRIA:  Yateley Manor Boys Choir will be leading the Carol Service at Holy Angels on Thursday, 19th December at 7.30pm in Aid of Syrian Children in Refugee Camps.  If you can display a poster for this event, please take one and invite your family and neighbours to join us for this community event to help Children in Syria.

Feast of Christ the King

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King and it is also National Youth Sunday.  It is also the Sunday when this Years First Holy Communion Children celebrate the anniversary of their First Holy Communion.  At Mass this Sunday some of last years First Holy Communion Children will join the Priest for the Entrance Procession at Mass and have a seat of honour at the front of the Church.  At the sign of Peace they will be invited to come to the Altar to receive the sign of Peace and then to take the Peace down through the Church.  Last years First Holy Communicants are invited to receive Communion first after the Altar Servers and at the end of Mass to form a guard of honour with bells for the Blessed Sacrament as it is taken in procession through the Church and out of the Church symbolising our call, having received Jesus in Holy Communion, to take Him out into the world and to share his presence and love with everyone we meet.

Annual Dedication of a Parish Community to Christ the King

God our Heavenly Father, you sent your only Son Jesus Christ to us so that we may know you more clearly and love you more dearly.

Your Son, Jesus, gave us his presence in the Holy Eucharist, so that we may experience his love in our world in a unique way and be moved to show to those we share our lives with his message of peace and love.

When we receive the body of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, we become living tabernacles of the Lord and take his presence and his message of love and peace into the world in which we live.

On this the feast of Christ the King we offer you our lives
That your kingdom may come on earth as it is in heaven,
And that peace will reign in our hearts, and, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
Transform the world in which we live.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
