Dash of Colour is a colourful fun run with a difference! Participants – wearing white clothing – can run, walk or jog the 5k route, and at every kilometre mark will be showered with beautiful, multi-coloured powder paint. They will finish the course covered in bright, vivid colours – celebrating the work of the Hospice and the colour it brings to the lives of so many of its patients and their families.

Holy Angels
Gloria’s Bike Ride
Gloria and her family thankfully safely completed their bike ride recently and Gloria on her own managed to raise the amazing sum of £995.78 but the four of them combined raised £5K. Many congratulations to all of them on their wonderful achievement in what was dreadful wet and windy weather. Gloria would like to thank everyone who so kindly supported them by making a donation for the Woking Hospice. (if you would like to see photos taken on the day please go to the Noticeboard on the Holy Angels website)
Choir and Singing Group:
Our Choir/Singing Group are very keen to welcome people, young and old to help with the music at Mass. In October they will be holding an open evening when you are welcome to come along for a Coffee, cake and a chat and share your thoughts and ideas. You don’t have to be able to read music – you won’t be asked to commit to every week – perhaps once a month for the full group and for those who can manage more – well we never turn anyone away. During what is left of the summer holidays you might like to visit Holy Angels Choir/Music page on our web site, talk to a member of our singing group or our organist after Mass and then think about showing your love for God by using your joy of music and sound in the Mass. Our Music Group want you to enjoy the experience and to feel relaxed in a group which has space for people who cannot commit t a weekly Mass or practice but who can come and sing as and when they are available and for the major events in the Church Year, like Christmas, Easter and First Holy Communions. Go on – think about it – you will be glad you did and even more thankful for the new and interesting friends you meet and perhaps the hidden talents you may discover.
Prayer Group: takes place once a month on a Tuesday at Holy Angels Church in the Parish Office: 7.45pm for a 8.00pm start. Dates are: 9th Sept. 7th Oct. and 4th November.
Holy Family
Holy Family – Memorial Rose Garden
The redesigned Memorial Rose Garden has worked very well but being partly new it will be vulnerable to weeds more than usual for a year or two until it settles down. We need some volunteers to take on looking after (and weeding) the Rose Garden for a month at a time. If you can offer a couple of hours once a month in memory of a loved one, please sign your name and write the name of the person you want to be remembered against one of the months on the list in the Church Porch. Thank you.
Time with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
As mentioned last Sunday the singers bench at the side of the Altar is available after Mass for anyone to use who would like a few quiet moments in Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. This means that we need to make sure that there is no talking or distracting activity on the Altar or the space in front of the Altar and the front benches after Mass. Many thanks to the three parishioners who suggested this solution.
Hall and Refreshment Preparation Area:
We have not forgotten about the Hall and the Refreshment Preparation area (commonly called ‘The Kitchen’) I would like to thank all those who responded with suggestions a few months ago before the holiday season. In September – October. I will be asking four of those who returned the Questionnaire to form a group to plan the renovation of the Refreshment Prep Area and the redecoration of the Hall. Many thanks for your comments, plans and offers of help.
A Quick Journey through the bible – Saturday 6th September 2014 at St. Joan’s Centre 9:00 am – 4:30pm Cost for material £15:00, which needs to be ordered. For more information please speak to Deacon John Edwards.
Songs of Praise will be broadcast live from Aldershot on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November.
The State of the World Today
Please remember in your prayers James Foley who was so brutally killed in Iraq during the week. We also need to pray for all who are being kept hostage and their families and friends. Our Politicians are in a very difficult position – they cannot ignore what is happening but they may fear that a reaction could make things worse. This is a time when they and all who hope for peace need our prayers and support. The present situation may seem far away but in these days of easy travel and communications, the problem in our neighbour’s field can soon become ours if the wind is blowing our way. No one, when there is trouble in the world can be sure of being safe. You may like to offer your Communion and Prayers this weekend for all facing a challenge to PEACE in their lives and to resolve to give whatever practical support we can to those whose families are in the front line of fire.
A Prayer for Peace
Lord, I am part of the tension and injustice of the world. Heal the resentment between people of which I am a part; and come into the world’s conflicts, in which I share by being human.
Take my unworthiness and sorrow,
and use them in your great work of healing and redeeming humanity.
