Holy Angels
Children’s Liturgy: We are blessed with a thriving young church at Holy Angels. However, the current team of catechists for Children’s Liturgy is small, and we are finding it difficult to hold CL on a weekly basis. Please note that we will be holding Children’s Liturgy on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month going forward. We would hope to hold it every week again, but first we need more catechists who are prepared to lead the lesson. Can you help us please? If so, please contact Bec Newey on 07854 231469 or johnandbec@ntlworld.com
Prayer Group for Holy Angels and Holy Family Churches takes place once a month on a Tuesday in the Parish Office at Holy Angels. The next Prayer Meeting is Tuesday, 3rd June and thereafter, 8th July and 2nd September. (Coffee at 7.30pm for 7.45pm start).
Holy Family
Holy Family Hall and Kitchen: Attached to the Newsletter for Holy Family this week you will find a ‘Consultation Form’ referring to updating the Kitchen in the Hall. Some of you, I suspect, think that we may have forgotten about this aspect of the renovation of the Church, however this is not the case – we have been gathering information and now we need your opinions so that I and Deacon John can put together a proposal for Holy Family AGM on 12th June.
Working together on the first part of the renovation of the Church, we have ended up with a beautiful and much more useful space for Mass, Baptisms, Weddings etc. Hopefully with the input of our local community we will be able to achieve the same for the kitchen and the Hall.
We would like to thank the two parishioners who have offered us kitchen units.
Many thanks. Father David.
Keeping his Commandments
Christ says to us what he said to his apostles: ‘If you love me, keep my commandments’. We can’t truly call ourselves his disciples if we don’t listen to his words and make an effort to live by them. We know we fail, and our lives are the poorer for that. We need the Lord’s help to do better.
Reflection
It’s a chilly day by the seaside,
far too windy for my comfort.
But the gulls don’t seem to mind the wind.
In fact, they seem to enjoy it.
I watch them flying about:
they go with it, thy go against it,
they soar into the sky, they plunge back to earth.
they are availing of its power.
And I reflect on how we, the disciples of Jesus,
are so easily blown off course by the winds of adversity.
Lord, send us the Holy Spirit who will enable us
to turn the hard and easy to our advantage,
so that everything that happens to us
may bear us along the road to your kingdom.
Message from Father David
Holy Angels and Holy Family FREE Parish Fun Day will take place on Sunday, 6th July, 2014 from 1pm until 5pm at Holy Angels Church, Ash. Why not come along. There will be lots of fun with games, face painting, we will even have a Fire Engine on site for the children. (see poster for more details)
Our Parish Free Fun Day is an opportunity for us to gather together to show each other that our friendship within the parish is important to each one of us no matter how well we know the person that sits besides us at Mass. Your support for this, the only gathering of the whole parish and our two Churches, gives us the opportunity to show each other that our faith and our parish life is important to us.
At the back of both Churches there is a list for food to bring and share at the Fun Day. Please respond as generously and kindly to this request as you can.
From the Fun Day Planning Group, for whose time and talents we all, I am sure, are very grateful.
