Special Collection
There will be a Special Collection TODAY for The Catholic Communications Network.
World Communications Day is celebrated today, Ascension Sunday. The theme is Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter with the Gift of Love. On this day we are encouraged to pray for communications professionals, especially those who work in the media.
Please support the second collection which provides the funding for the Catholic Communications Network.
The CCN provides support for the bishops of England and Wales and the Church more widely in promoting the Gospel through the media on current issues.
The office is the central point for media enquiries and plays a key role in developing the public profile of the Church.
It is possible to donate online at:
www.catholicnews.org.uk/donations
Some commemorative prayer cards for this day have been printed and are available to take away. Please support the CCN through your prayers and generosity.

Standing Order for April: £846.00

Information
Youth: As many of you will be aware, our Youth Group leaders and six of our young people are spending three weeks in Tanzania this summer helping at the Karibu Nyumbani orphanage. The children are in need of good quality second hand shoes. Have any of our smallest parishioners just grown out of their shoes? We would welcome donations and, from next weekend, there will be a collection box in both churches. The boys are aged from 4-6 years and the girls from 1-6 years. Children’s clothes and small, light games and story books would also be appreciated. Thank you, Sally Brennan

Please remember in your prayers our First Holy Communion children who will shortly be taking their First Holy Communions. A & B Diocesan Golden Jubilee – Sunday 5th July This is a once in a life time opportunity to celebrate the anniversary of our Diocese with our new Bishop. Coaches will be provided for this event. A list is available at the back of both Churches for people to sign if they are wishing to travel by coach.
Please do take the time to look at the booklet the Diocese has given to each family (copies are still available), Please sign the form as early as possible as we need to book the coaches well in advance of this event. We are almost at the point now that we need to confirm coaches so please don’t delay in signing up. With thanks
World Youth Day 2016: Next Summer the Diocese will be taking a group to Krakow, Poland for World Youth Day. It’s an amazing chance to deepen your faith with about 3 million other Catholics from around the globe! WYD lasts for a week. The week ends with a huge vigil with the Pope and then the final Mass the next day!
We’ll be travelling out there by coach and staying in a hotel on the outskirts of the city, not too far from the action. Application packs are available from the Youth Service website www.yaab.co.uk. You can also apply on line, but make sure to download a pack so you get all the info. Feel free to get in touch with Jack if you’ve got any questions (01293 651158 – Jack.Regan@dabnet.org)
Month of May:
Please ask our Lady to pray for our Bishop designate during this month. Offer up a Rosary or even a simple Hail Mary for him every day if you can.
You can also say this prayer for him:
O God, eternal shepherd of the faithful, who tend your Church in countless ways and rule over her in love, grant, we pray, that Richard your servant whom you have called to be set over your people may preside in the place of Christ over us, the flock whose shepherd he will be, and be faithful as a teacher of doctrine, a Priest of sacred worship and as one who serves us by governing, Through Jesus Christ your Son. Amen.
Universe Catholic Newspaper:
We were pleased that following our trial run of providing the Universe Catholic Newspaper, all copies from both Churches were taken. We hope those of you who took a copy found them interesting and would very much appreciate your feedback. If they prove to be popular with Parishioners we will continue having these delivered on a regular basis. Thank you.
Baptisms
Baptism forms are available at the back of both Churches. Parents will need to attend an evening Baptism course. Please return your completed Baptism Form to Deacon John Edwards so that you can be included in the next Course which will take place in June.
